Deejay Guests is v4p0rú, whose journey with vinyl began with his parents’ collection of Latin records, tapes, and cds. Many of the vinyls that will be played tonight still have a price tag with addresses just blocks away from the radio station in Jackson Heights. Most were acquired as early as the late 70’s and 80’s, when v4p0rú’s parents migrated to NYC from Colombia. The collection includes salsa dura, cumbia, boleros, cuban son, and other goodies supplemented by v4p0rú’s own growing collection. While in a club they may play many different genres, this record collection is deeply personal to the family and linked to the land around the radio station.
