Join us as we open our airwaves to the cultural creators within our community and beyond. Tune in to LH Radio CREATORS to connect with these inspiring voices and explore the ideas and inspirations that shape our world. Today we sit down with Yamini Kalluri, a world-class Kuchipudi dancer (disciple of legendary Dr. Sobha Naidu) who teaches, performs and choreographs full-time in NYC and beyond. An artist who is at once deeply traditional, but also flirts with the avant-garde, Kalluri is a performer/choreographer not to be missed as Indian classical dance continues to conquer new stages abroad. Kalluri is known for her grace, lines, agility, and uncompromising quest for perfection as she works to re-frame & highlight Kuchipudi in a global context.
Yamini Kalluri champions the art of Kuchipudi worldwide through her non-profit, Kritya Foundation. As curator of the NY Kuchipudi Dance Festival and through unforgettable performances and groundbreaking collaborations with the Kritya Ensemble, Yamini preserves this rich tradition. Her teaching under Kritya Foundation empowers the next generation, blending passion and heritage.
