This month’s episode fetures Beatriz E. Balanta (PhD, Duke University), a teacher, researcher, curator, and cultural manager born in Puerto Tejada, Colombia, and based in Cali, Colombia. Her work focuses on the intersection of visual culture, politics, and identity. She has published articles on orgasm and psychoanalysis, political discourse, racism and classism in academia, and photography and the construction of Black identity. Balanta is the executive director and co-founder of BlackGround, a Cali-based cultural agency dedicated to promoting Afrodiasporic art, culture, and thought.
